Church of Walking Disciples
GUY, ARKANSAS
MISSION STATEMENT
To train others to walk as Jesus walked,
to disciple and equip others to fulfill
His commission for all mankind.

Mathetes in Greek Strong's means a learner, a follower of a teacher. The term follower after the death of Christ is used which means disciple, a Christian or believer. The word Christian was first used by the enemy of the cross.
Acts 11:26
Acts 6:1-2
Acts 11:26
We need to understand the Hebrew mindset of discipleship. Discipleship was understood in the early church as family. This is why Apostles Paul and John used the term father and children, discipleship was family oriented.
Discipleship in the Gospels and the book of Acts show us what our own walk should look like. We need a mentor who is born again and walks this life out as Christ did, as Paul did, as the early church did.
We were never intended to be just converts but followers (disciples).
Matthew 28:18-20
Matthew 4:18-22
Luke 14:26-33
Matthew 10:24-25
Matthew 10:37-39
Mark 16:15-20

This word is not what we have been taught in the western system. Believing takes on a broader meaning than just believing “that” or with mental assent. Believing is trusting, therefore obedience follows. Romans 6:8
Like the word ‘faith’ from Greek Strong's 4102; this word means to be faithful, total reliance on Christ, the word faith here best describes the word believe 4100 Pisteuo in Greek. This word is a continuum tense in other words, “go on believing” 4100 Pisteau (believe) means to entrust your entire well being to Christ and because He is God you are obedient and pursue good works showing you trust.
Remember faith without works is dead and not perfected before God. James 2:22

4892 Greek Strong's concordance Sozo
As with most Hebrew and Greek words, there is more than one meaning to this word and it is broad.
You cannot have deliverance or healing (sozo) without a savior Jesus Christ, ‘God.’ His name is Salvation (Soter) 4990 in Greek Strong's, Joshua, Yeshua.
I don’t believe you can separate salvation from saved and saved from Christ the savior.
So when you hear ‘Are you saved?’ or ‘I have been saved since I was 8 years old.’ Most don’t realize what saved means, in the New Testament meaning. Saved means from sin, (Galatians 1:4, Matthew 1:21, John 1:29) or from evil spirits, sickness, oppression, guilt, shame and from the flesh. We were saved, we are being saved and we will be saved, it is on going just as reconciliation is ongoing.
I ask people sometimes “what are you saved from?”
Acts 3:10
Acts 22:16
When we first came to repentance and washed our sins away, we were saved from our past sin. Also when you were healed from a sickness or ailment, you were saved by Christ as well.
We are to go on being saved. Hebrews 3:14
Word meaning 4982 Sozo (saved) 1 Corinthians 1:18; 2 Corinthians 2:15
To save, to deliver, protect, to bring to safety, to heal, to make well.
Word meaning 4991 Soteria (salvation)
To rescue, physical or moral safety, salvation, save, strength, preservation from danger or destruction, imprisonment, bondage from sin.
The words ‘saved, salvation and believing’ are used too loosely now a days and are dangerous when used wrong.
The words believing and saved will now take on a new meaning through your New Testament studies, and yourself sharing the Gospel with others.

Act 16:31
Romans 13:11
Mark 16:16
